Artist Profile:

Biography:

Name: Mr Silva @MistaF2DSilva

Real name: Kwame Amponsa-Yeboah

Strong, Interactive, Lively, Versatile Artist; Mista Silva is the modern voice of a generation. Bringing Afrobeats to a new audience the pioneering sounds of Boomboomtah was the first unsigned Afrobeats track to be playlisted on
BBC 1xtra. In the midst of appearances at E4 Udderbelly Festival, Radio 1 Hackney Weekender and Summer Series at Somerset House, the artist known as Mista Silva released his first E.P- the aptly titled Full Vim. Born and raised in South East London, Kwame Amponsa had a keen interest in music from an early age. Surrounded by the sounds of US/UK Hip-Hop, Garage, and Grime the young Mista Silva and a group of friends formed the underground collective- Militant Souljaz. Whilst in the collective Silva developed his lyrical ability working alongside some of the UKs top underground artists of the time including Regal Players & P-Money. However after a period of no progression the Militant Souljaz dispersed. Mista Silva and friends went on to form an events and entertainment group in 2008 called Fresh 2 Def Entertainments UK which consisted of two DJs, two artists and four promoters. This opened the doors to the club scene and Mista Silva rapidly found himself one of the most requested mic men hosting funkyhouse sets up and down the UK. Silva's natural ability on the mic provided further opportunities for him to perform in Cyprus, Ghana, Germany and Holland. He was also invited to support Kid Cudi, The Streets and fellow
British Ghanaian Dizzee Rascal at the Splash Festival in Berlin.

In 2010 alongside DJ Greyman and 3 others Mista Silva was selected by DJ
Pioneer to feature on Kiss FM Chosen Ones representing the scene as the
future of UK Funky with a 30min set and interview.

Being of Ghanaian origin, Kwame Amponsa was brought up around the
sounds of hi-life and its modern form hip-life where artists rapped and sung in their native tongue over hard hitting and melodic beats. Mista Silva later adapted this to Funky House and became known for blending catchy bars in his native language with common club chants e.g. the crowd enticing Kelebom, go down low!

Keen to pay full homage to his roots, Silva made the swift transition from Funky House to Afrobeats. In July 2011 he released a remix of the Ghanaian
hit 5Five Muje Baya, alongside fellow UK Afrobeats artists Flava, Kwamz & A-Star for the Ghana Party in the Park Event. The recording achieved 40,000+ views within the first month of its release proving that were really on to something. The follow up tracks Wa Di Mi Sika and Boomboomtah received equal responses, the latter reaching 100,000+ views in the first 2 weeks!

Mista Silva has been working extremely hard behind the scenes and following the latest injection of Full Vim his infectious music will undoubtedly spread
worldwide.
